英语中有关上升的名词
我们继续上周的趋势描述系列。今天介绍一些意思与上升有关的名词。
先看一个国内学生不太熟悉的：
1. ascension
意思是the process of moving to a higher level or position，升到更高水平或者状态。比如我们看下面这个标题：
the story of a young man’s rapid political ascension
一个政治上青云直上（爬得很快）的年轻人的故事
2. ascent
与ascension意义一样，另外，与山有关，有斜坡、爬山活动的意思。
the first ascent/climb of Mt Everest 珠穆朗玛峰的首次登山活动
the north ascent of Mt Everest 珠穆朗玛峰的北坡(或者叫我们更熟悉的the north face)
3. climb
作为名词，climb和ascent同样都是指上升、爬山活动，但没有斜坡这个意思。见下面的例句：
The book made a rapid climb to the top of the best-seller list.
这本书在畅销书榜单上快速登顶。
4. growth
意思为progressive development，渐进发展，有个过程。
The city has undergone explosive growth in recent years.
城市这几年经历了爆炸式的发展。这里边的爆炸式是夸张以及相对之前发展程度的说法，还是有个“一年一小变，三年一大变”的那种过程的感觉。
5. improvement
指价值上的提升。
I've noticed improvement in your work.
我已经注意到你工作有进步。
6. increase
前文提到过，作为名词，增长/增长值的意思
7. jump
跳跃式上升，很好理解。
8. lift
意思和improvement更类似一些，更常用于条件、情绪等的改善，比如：
The good test grade gave her a lift.
好的考试成绩对她是个提升(比如升学、保送等更有把握了等等)。
9. recovery
专指趋势反转后的上升
This policy may slow the pace of economic recovery.
这个政策可能拖慢经济复苏的步伐。
10. rise
常用词，一般意义上的上升。
11. surge
我们熟悉的意思是a sudden, large increase，另外，它还有个特别的意思，用于a sudden movement of many people. 比如下面的例句：
There has been a surge of immigrants into the city.
移民潮涌进城。
最终，上升的目标就是顶点(peak)。
